Inkstead is built as a personal reader. Your feeds, saved stories, reading progress, and optional publishing features are handled by the app and the services you choose to use.

No advertising or tracking

Inkstead does not include advertising, advertising tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. I do not sell your personal data.

Information Inkstead stores

Inkstead stores the information needed to run your reader, such as the feeds you follow, saved stories, read state, reading progress, categories, and cached article content. If you import or export OPML, Inkstead reads or creates that file only when you choose to do so.

iCloud sync

Most reader data is stored on your device. When iCloud is available and enabled, Inkstead can sync your reader state through your private iCloud database using Apple CloudKit. Inkstead does not operate a separate account system or server for this sync.

Network requests

Inkstead fetches feeds, webpages, article content, and site icons from the sites you subscribe to or open. Those websites and feed hosts receive ordinary web request information, such as your IP address, user agent, and requested URL. If you view discussion threads, Inkstead may contact the relevant public discussion service to load those comments.

Publishing features

If you connect Inkstead to a publishing service, Inkstead uses that connection only to show, create, update, or remove the content you choose to manage from the app. Credentials for publishing services are stored using Apple Keychain technologies, preferring iCloud Keychain when available, and are not stored in normal reader sync records.

Photos and media

If you attach photos or images while publishing, Inkstead reads only the items you select and sends them to the publishing service you connected. Inkstead does not scan your photo library for reader features.

Deleting your data

You can remove feeds, saved entries, publishing connections, and imported data from inside the app. You can also delete the app and its local data from your devices, manage iCloud data through Apple settings, and revoke access directly with any connected publishing service.
